The Dental Bonding Procedure
Quick and safe, the dental bonding procedure can be performed in a single visit at our Bismarck practice. Generally, Dr. Heringer will begin by preparing or cleaning the teeth that will be bonded. He will then apply a special solution to make the enamel more receptive to the composite material that will be adhered. Next, the tooth will be coated with the composite material itself and our dentist will create the desired shape and size so the tooth-colored bond blends beautifully with your other teeth and bite. In the last step, a light will be beamed on the bonded teeth, triggering the eventual hardening and strengthening effect.
In the event your teeth have a mild amount of decay to treat, a local anesthetic may need to be administered before the procedure. Patients with more severe decay should first consider restorative dentistry treatment, such as porcelain crowns, or pursue cosmetic dentistry options.
